A travelling exhibition compiled in 2018 to commemorate the members of the Cabinets of Ministers of the Republic of Lithuania who were subject to repressions in 1918-1940. All of them fell victims to the Soviet and Nazi occupation, labelled as “socially alien and dangerous elements” of the occupation regimes who thus had to be destroyed.

45 former members of the Cabinets of Ministers of the Republic of Lithuania in 1918-1940 became victims of Soviet and Nazi repressions: 16 were shot dead, 10 died in prisons or forced labour camps, 3 perished in exile, 11 returned from labour camps or exile, 5 were imprisoned during the first Soviet occupation, and were released at the outbreak of World War II; at the end of the war, they left for the West.

The repressions were suffered by the Prime Ministers of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministers of the Interior, National Defence, Foreign Affairs, Transport, Education, Agriculture, Justice and Finance.

The families of the repressed ministers were exiled to the Komi ASSR, the Altai krai, the Tomsk and Novosibirsk oblasts. In 1942, most of the families from the Altai krai were moved to the north of Yakutia to the Laptev Sea.

The exhibition displays a lot of new previously unexhibited visual material. The biographies of the victims of repressions are complemented by photographs, documents, facsimiles of press publications, letters from the period of independent Lithuania, imprisonment in forced labour camps, prisons or places of exile.
