All information about the museum’s educational activities

The Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights of LGGRTC and the Memorial Complex of Tuskulėnai Peace Park invite organised groups of Lithuanian pupils and students to take part in the educational programme of civil and national education Open History. This programme introduces the history of Lithuania in the middle and second half of the 20th century: the occupation and annexation of Lithuania by the Soviet Union, the people’s fight to regain their independence, the repressions carried out by the Soviet regime, the efforts to preserve the national identity in occupied Lithuania, places of imprisonment and exile, and the everyday life of people under the totalitarian regime that used various means in its attempts to create the new Soviet man – the homo sovieticus.

The educational programme consists of thematic and guided tours, educational activities and documentary film screenings. The activities organised are adjusted to the age of the pupils and the wishes of their teachers.

All educational sessions include practical individual tasks and discussions, which develop participants’ abilities to work with and analyse historical sources, and to independently interpret past events.

To raise awareness about the educational programme Open History, presentations are organised in schools and summer camps.
