A movable exhibition prepared in 2004 is dedicated to the deportation operation Priboi (Coastal Surf) that took place on 25-28 March 1949. It displays photographs taken from the original negative images made by 1949 deportee Rev. Jonas Augustauskas (24 November 1923 – 9 December 2002). The selected photographs reflect a variety of themes illustrating the years spent in exile in the Irkutsk oblast, but mainly photographic portraits. Rev. Jonas Augustauskas’ camera captured men and women, young and old, Lithuanians and their Russian neighbours. We see them at work and at leisure, celebrating and mourning, seeing off their loved ones on their last journey…
