The KGB: 1954–1991
Pupils, students and pensioners (with ID) – 3 €.
Main Information
Despite the process of destalinisation that began in the Soviet Union in 1950’s, the newly established repressive agency, the KGB, continued the work of its predecessors and persecuted dissidents.
The documents regulating the activities of the KGB, the surviving working tools, methodological material, forms, stamps, and technical means used for surveillance on display reveal the operations, methods, and importance of this repressive structure to force people to submit to Soviet rule.
In addition to testimonies of repressions carried out by the regime, the exhibition includes Soviet paraphernalia kept in the offices of KGB employees, images of pompous rallies and demonstrations, and other material reflecting the reality of Soviet life – the shocking difference between the publicly demonstrated Soviet lifestyle and the reality of a life marked by fear, coercion, and restrictions.
